Natural Hair Growth Tips
Here are some tips that will help you grow your natural hair to the length of your desire:
Bleaching your hair from one colour to another will damage the cuticles of your hair. This will in turn trigger split ends and hair breakage
Styling With Heat is Not Good
Using heat all the times to style your hair will lead to more harmful result than good. Should you decide to use heat anyway, it should be done with uttermost consciousness and precaution.
Add Vitamin to your Hair Routine
Some of the foods we eat might not have the micronutrients your hair needs. This explains why adding hair growth vitamin is great. A hair growth vitamin is an inside-out approach.
Brush Your Hair Before Going To Sleep
The hair oils you use most times tend settle at the scalp. When you brush your hair before going to bed, you distribute some of the oils on your scalp. More so, this stimulates the circulation of blood within your scalp.
Eat For Your Hair
Your hair needs nutrients and vitamins to grow. Some foods contain some those nutrients. Consciously eating those for the sake of your hair is something you must learn to do.
Most Common Hair Problems
No matter the length or texture, human hair at some point in time would be faced with some problems. These hair problems usually manifest as a person gets older.
There are a variety of hair problems and I’ll be looking at the 4 major ones.
Gray hair may not seem like a big deal, and truthfully it isn’t. In fact some people may see it as a distinguishing element, others don’t seem to care.
Whatever your take on gray hair is, the fact remains that it is a sign that you are getting older and your hair is getting weaker.
Scientists have for a long time tried to figure out exactly why hair turns from its original color to gray, and they have done so successfully.
Studies have shown that hair gets its color from the melanin pigment, which is produced by melanocyte cells in the hair follicles.
It has been revealed that melanocyte passes cumulative damage over the years and at some point will no longer be able to produce melanin.
Some studies have fingered DNA damage and a buildup of hydrogen peroxide in the hair follicles as the main reason behind the disruption of melanin production.
Keep in mind that without the production of melanin, the new hair that grows will not have any pigment, therefore it will appear gray, white or silver in color.
There is no specific age when a person would start getting gray hair; however, graying is usually determined by genes.
This means if your parent(s) started getting gray hair early, you’d probably get gray hair early too.
For those who don’t see gray hair as a problem, rather as a stylish trend, there would be no worries. On the other hand, those who don’t like it can always use a good hair dye to restore their natural color.
Studies have shown that an average human loses about 100 hairs per day, and this is very normal. However, there can be hair loss on a larger, more serious scale which can be caused by several factors. These factors include –
- High stress levels
- Severe infections
- Medication such as anti-depressants, chemotherapy, radiation, birth control pills and high blood pressure medication
- Iron deficiency anemia
- Exposure to chemicals like thallium and arsenic
There are other man-made causes of hair loss. These include –
- Wearing tight ponytails
- Tight weaving
- Bleaching or perming the hair more times than necessary
If you’re experiencing hair loss, don’t fret, there are medications you can take to significantly slow down the process. Some of these medications are minoxidil, finoxeride & cortisone.
Those who are fond of over styling their hair are the ones most likely to suffer from hair breakage. Too much blow-drying, straightening, perming and highlighting can all lead to hair breakage.
Other causes of hair breakage include –
- Poor nutrition
- Certain medications
- Harsh shampoo
- Certain types of hair dye
Please note that hair loss and hair breakage aren’t exactly the same thing. Hair loss means when the hair falls off from the roots (scalp), while hair breakage means the hair breaks of from any point of the hair, it could be the end of the hair, the bottom part, or from the middle.
To limit the occurrence of hair breakage, you can reduce the amount of times you blow-dry your hair. Also, limit the use of hot irons and curlers.
There is natural oil produced in the scalp known as Sebum. It comes from the sebaceous gland and It keeps the scalp oiled. In special cases, the sebaceous glands produce too much Sebum, which gives the scalp more lubrication than it needs. This will ultimately lead to greasy hair, which is limp and hard to manage.
A simple solution to greasy hair conditions is to wash with shampoo specially formulated to tackle excess Sebum.
